Y’all. It’s almost summer again.

New aquaintance: “Have you ever heard of (Gypsy Xanga Fl0w3r Moon [or any other random band/artist name])?” Me, respectfully: “No I haven’t!”
Them, disheartened: “But I thought you work in music?”
Me: ︎ (sigh)

AFTERNOON

I’m always making new playlists... sometimes oldies, sometimes new or genre-specific.  It’s a full scope of old favorites ranging from songs that creep from the hidden file cabinets in the back of my mind, to recommendations from friends and followings, to new music that hits me daily via work as a music publicist, and attempting to keep in touch with the vast overflow of exceptional artistry that can come to fruition in modern times. There’s so much. The world is abundant.  xCor

SXSW-21

              VIRTUAL REALITY SXSW 2021
SXSW 2021. The legendary tech x music x film x art festival that is so crucial and beloved to Austin, TX, a major staple of the beautiful, hot and vibrant city, didn’t exist last year. This year. It’s online. It’s a wild experience, connecting with folks online. The great thing is that we prevail. Music heals. Music brings us together. So much new music this year. Here’s the OFFICIAL SXSW playlist, and then below is mine. These are the bands I came into contact with. Hope you enjoy. It’s all about discovery, connection, and indulging in something new. Let’s not get disconnected and forget that.

03.20-21

              Dandelion in the Country
Springtime 2021. We’re all trying to get the vaccine. Flowers are in bloom. Maybe it’s snowing. It’s still 40 degrees somedaze in LA. But the sun is shining. We have an extra hour of sunlight with daylight savings. We’re all ready to get outside. It’s time to jump in the truck (or prius) and venture to the unknown (but with a mask). Time for country jams and hope towards a better summer this year. Here’s some newbies and some oldies. It’s always a mix. And y’all know this cowboy loves some country.

01.5-21

              LA Cowboy
2021 It’s a new year, finally! The last few months have been a busy blast and now for most of us it’s back to work after the holiday. Here on the West Coast I’ve been going back to my 60s/70s favorites, records from Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, etc. This mix includes some favorites and some songs that are new to me. These tracks find me cruising the coast by water or car, in the fresh air; caught between nostalgia and a hopeful dream for the future. Trying to find some peace in this world, and I hope this brings some peace to you.
